I have a Hyper bike from several years ago (found on Slickdeals, natch). It worked fine for a few years, but the crank and [axel?] materials wore out and the crank kept falling off. I was hoping it was an issue with the crank arm, but even after replacing it, the crank kept falling off after hard use. I am assuming the part the crank attaches to is marred in some way. Replacing/fixing that is probably more expensive than just buying this one.

For $75, this is tough to beat.

The majority of peeps have no idea how tight 45Nm are to tighten the square taper crank bolts. And yes, if loose, the steel spindle (bottom bracket "axle") will round the aluminum alloy crank slowly but surely under load and over time.

Is that a universal standard (45Nm)? I have a click-torque wrench I should probably use. Usually I use a regular one and say "click" when I think it's tight enough.

I'm not sure what you mean, I have the black and red one, I was stating that I hope this black and blue will be as good as the black and red that I have. If you are talking about the color about the red one, the color is like a darker tone of red. Not too flashy

SHOUT Click at 45 or 50 to be safe, but you have to mean it for it to work

These bikes are only as good as the person that assembled it.

Most people have bad experiences with these, because it wasn't assembled/tuned up properly.

So, you'd be looking at another $60-$80 for a bike shop to get everything adjusted properly.

But if you're spending that much on labor, you may as well start with a bike that has better components.

Obviously this excludes everyone that has a bike stand and all the tools/knowledge to do it at home. But if you did, you probably wouldn't be looking at this bike either.

wish it were just front suspension. The cheesy rear suspension just weakens the bike and adds to its weight.

Not really, it is not the rocket science. Most people can do it for free.

Putting this bike together requires two opposable thumbs. The lines and chain are already connected. 2 bolts for 2 wheels, 1 bolt for handle bar, screw in the paddles, and put in the seat. That's all. If you don't know how to adjust the brakes, ask a friend.
