Make sure you've got your information correct before commenting on a deal.
The panel is WVA which is another way of saying IPS, which Dell trademarked. So, this is definitely not VA, but IPS which you could have easily verified by doing some research and checking Dell's official spec sheet; even the QHD+ display is labeled WVA, are you going to call it VA too?

You don't need to search if a laptop has soldered RAM or not. The rule is simple and one that anyone can remember -- if the RAM says "LPDDR" then it's soldered. If it says "DDR" then it more than likely has a SODIMM slot.

It amazes me how many people say soldered RAM is "no-go". Almost every non-gaming laptop has soldered RAM. So which laptops are a "go" for you? Certainly nothing thin and light. Why people look at these laptops like they might have SODIMM slots is beyond me. Plus, have you looked at the price of SODIMM's? If you did, you'd see you probably wouldn't buy them anyways.

This Dell Plus 16 stands out as a strong spec play for the money, especially with 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD. The Ryzen AI 7 350 and NPU also make it appealing for local AI tasks, and the USB C ports support DisplayPort output with 4K at 60Hz. The main drawbacks are the soldered RAM with no upgrade path, modest 300 nit brightness, and a 60Hz 1920 by 1200 panel. Open box condition can be excellent, but missing chargers and other condition surprises have shown up.

Common Questions (5)

The 32GB LPDDR5 RAM is soldered, so it cannot be upgraded, removed, or transferred to another laptop. That makes the configuration a good fit only if 32GB is enough for your use case today.
starfoxinstinct MisterOfMagma qhn9416 Hat-Trick
The display is a 16-inch 1920x1200 panel rated at 300 nits, and Dell labels it WVA, which is its IPS-equivalent branding. The practical downside is limited outdoor visibility, especially compared with brighter 600-nit or 2000-nit screens.
PurpleMeerkat1173 Dr.W sportsjunkie LazyGuy1010
Open-box units can range from nearly new returns to dirty store displays with missing parts, so condition is very YMMV. Some Good units arrive in great shape, while Fair units may be missing the charger.
TealThread549 boingyman FlatWhite1302 wreptyle
It is a strong value if you can use 32GB now, but it is a poor fit if you want RAM upgrades or a brighter panel. The soldered LPDDR5 memory and 300-nit display are the main tradeoffs.
starfoxinstinct starcaptor qhn9416 LazyGuy1010
It can handle 4K at 60Hz over its two USB-C ports with DisplayPort over USB-C. HDMI 1.4 is the limiting factor, so 4K output is better done through USB-C.

Make sure to get the extended warranty! I work with Dell laptops at work. These days I spend my time replacing screens and top cases because the build quality is horrible. We were using Latitude 15 inch laptops until they broke too many times, most in the first or second year and we had to fight with Dell to repair. We switched to these - the Pro Plus 13 and 16. They are starting to break also now. Get Pro Plus warranty or Dell will not help you.

good deal considering the specs and the ram. the ram is lpddr5 so it's soldered so you can't take it out and transfer to a new laptop, nor upgrade, nor can you sell it if the laptop breaks.personally I'd rather have interchangeable ram, it's more important than ever given how expensive it's gotten. but if you're cool with it, enjoy your laptop.

Hopefully lpcamm2 picks up steam soon and soldiered ram will be relegated to ultra low budget

Got the "Good condition". So far looks in great shape. The audio is not as strong as Yoga (my previous laptop), but otherwise so far so good!

An excellent was available at my local location, so I purchased it overnight but got a message this morning that it is not available. It could have always been unavailable, but does anyone know if Best Buy has controls to not allow an employee to mark it as unavailable and purchase it for themselves? Thanks!

Can't drive a 4k monitor with HDMI 1.4.

This laptop has 2 USB C ports which allow for DisplayPort over USB-C and comfortably handles 4K 60hz.
