good deal considering the specs and the ram. the ram is lpddr5 so it's soldered so you can't take it out and transfer to a new laptop, nor upgrade, nor can you sell it if the laptop breaks.

personally I'd rather have interchangeable ram, it's more important than ever given how expensive it's gotten. but if you're cool with it, enjoy your laptop.

You won't get ddr5 sodimm madhines at this price, new or refurbbed. 32 gigs would be $300-380 on its own. If you can use 32 gigs today, this price is pretty good...if you need more RAM, you'd just get a new machine 🫠

Yes, using AMD's lemonade software stack you can run LLMs locally on the NPU with pretty decent performance on smaller models. I have a laptop with the R9 365 and 24 gigs or ram, runs LLMs pretty well.

Make sure you've got your information correct before commenting on a deal.
The panel is WVA which is another way of saying IPS, which Dell trademarked. So, this is definitely not VA, but IPS which you could have easily verified by doing some research and checking Dell's official spec sheet; even the QHD+ display is labeled WVA, are you going to call it VA too?

I sure got a lesson in ymmv on open box best buy. Some have gotten lucky with basically new returns. Other times like one I got store displays that were really dirty and used. Ideal if they had more details besides scratches missing parts that is standard language. Because best buy doesn't power them down at nights battery counts can't help you investigate after you bought it and most lower priced don't have ssd's that you can find hours on either.

You don't need to search if a laptop has soldered RAM or not. The rule is simple and one that anyone can remember -- if the RAM says "LPDDR" then it's soldered. If it says "DDR" then it more than likely has a SODIMM slot.

It amazes me how many people say soldered RAM is "no-go". Almost every non-gaming laptop has soldered RAM. So which laptops are a "go" for you? Certainly nothing thin and light. Why people look at these laptops like they might have SODIMM slots is beyond me. Plus, have you looked at the price of SODIMM's? If you did, you'd see you probably wouldn't buy them anyways.

I would never buy another Dell laptop. my first was an Inspiron that I purchased 25 or so years ago and it broke because of the hinges. It appears even after all these years, their laptops are still plagued with hinge problems.
