Hopefully Polestar can strike a deal with Volvo to use their service centers. Their Volvo EV cousins are having some teething issues with the tech. If one of these has problems you are screwed at this point.
Get this to stick it to the man (Elon). But you'd also be sticking it to yourself.
Tiny range difference, faster 0 to 60, and of course there are way more Tesla service centers and mobile service than Polestar.
Add in FSD, if that's your thing, and it's just a better buy for $4K more. I've done plenty of FSD trips for multi hour drives with little intervention. That's on a now legacy hardware (2018 Model X).

"Asia" has numerous brands (and countries) where a large majority have no interaction or direct supply chain partners between them.
Your fear of Asian cars really has no merit over your friends fear of those German cars after that small tiff a "few years back".
Again, if you check your politics at the door, and based it on what's the better/smarter deal, M3 wins. But, yes go vote with your dollar.
After 8+yrs of owning a Tesla Model X, I cannot ever see myself going back to an ICE car. Unless it's a Corvette Z06 or something insane like that.
My neighbor spent almost 200K on his BMW i7 (or maybe XM? I don't know), and hates it - "never again". But he also wanted to stick it to Elon. He literally test drove mine - we tracked it and everything. But then political Elon dissuaded him.

Yes, Rivian, lucid etc are cool but they dont have the backing and history of the legacy brands.
