It folds down very small, the base has a plastic sheet to give it structure. It's floppy, yes. It almost reminds me of a drawstring bag in that aspect, but since it has 2 straps (vs drawstring), it sits pretty well when it has items in it.
I can't really speak to the anti-theft features since I haven't cut the bag or anything, but the material seems light. I don't know how effective it would be in a real-world situation.
