This game Saros bombed, I think it sold only 300k copies, and hence is why we have such a dramatic price drop so early. $70 price tag is ridiculous out the gate but Sony was betting on the high review scores to bait the masses into paying for it. I actually heard from user reviews of some folks that played it and felt like the game was more of a one-and-done type game, and held Returnal up to a higher pedestal than Saros. The game as it is, is just super niche -- and is just missing that crucial piece of story telling to elevate it higher to the gen masses.
But now that I think about it, now since Sony is bent on eliminating physical discs starting in 2028, I think the $20 price point is probably threshold in which I would buy a digital game. If this was digital only at $40 or even $50 like this, I wouldn't even think to take a gamble. Because at least with the disc, you can resell it back if it wasn't your taste. With digital only future, I require a higher standard before buy-in.
Also want to mention its the same price on digital $50. Though i paid only $25 for this because I was sitting on a $25 Amazon courtesy credit and used it on a PSN card to get it.
I beat the game in 13 hours using the modifiers and spent time messing around. Definitely worth the $25 I spent. Wouldn't have paid $50, much less $75 for this. It really is a one and done kind of deal unless a player decides to chase the platinum. Which is rare for me depending on how tedious the trophies are and if its a Soulslike.
