Reviews actually look pretty solid, which is not common for these types of tents.

What would be the advantage of this over a tent on the ground?

you get the oppertunity to take down your tent every time you have to drive somewhere. and it forces you to unload your entire truck every time you want to set up a tent. those are pro's, right? lol.

there is no advantage. people will always try to justify their purchases because they "think" it is somehow more luxurious than staying in a typical tent, but when you actually get down to it, they arent actually advantages. ive seen far too many people buy these, think they will be an upgrade, use them like 5 or 6 times before they finally cave and realize they are more work, with no advantages, and are often more poorly made than a typical tent.

animals(including bugs), cant get into tents on the ground if they are closed. and if the tent is open they can get into any tent. doesnt matter if its on the ground or in a truck bed.

the only advantages of a truck bed tent are in your head. and thats fine if it gets people camping. but lets call a spade a spade.

isn't a mattress on truck bed more comfortable than on the ground ?

I bought a used reg cab light truck that the previous owner gave a Napier tent with it. The one only real use convinced me to get a used camper shell for future camping trips.

I've used it only twice, test set up in the drive way and 1 1/2 nights at a campsite. Should have been two nights but had an emergency on the farm due to bad weather. The storm was also coming towards the camping grounds. Setting up the truck tent first time carefully learning takes 20mins, the few times after about 10 mins. I couldn't tell you how long it took to unload and set up since everything was under a hard trifold tonneau cover. But when I got the call, loading took me about 20-30mins to quickly disassemble the tent, reinstall the tonneau cover, and gather everything listed down below back into the bed, 10 mins of which was in the rain.

3 people, my truck and a Miata
my truck tent, cot, & sleeping bag, back pack of clothes
2 tents, 2 air mattress, pillow, sheets, blankets, 6ft folding table, 3 camping chairs
bluetti power station
50qt cooler, food, drink, dishes, untensils, and grill.
Trifold tonneau cover.

have you compared an air matress in your house to one on the ground? unless you pick the rockiest place to put your tent, it wont matter.

I think the price is decent. But I'm leaning toward keeping a large insta‑pitch tent in the bed of my truck and just popping it up on the ground in under two minutes.

Golabs still in business? I heard they stay under the water for warranty claims of their power stations?
