because BJs allows me to do a curbside pickup or instore pickup. clipping the coupons takes five minutes every month. if that's too much, you can download a script that does it for you automatically. shopping instore? you can digitally scan your items, clip the coupons, and skip the checkout line. not sure why people continue to spend an hour at costco when i can be in and out of BJs for the same price in five minutes.
I always bought Haagen Daaz when they had these double coupons, which seemed to be every other month for the past few years. They no longer carry the double chocolate bars which are my favorite. 😞
Great deal though for premium ice cream.

Why anyone would want to put up with this couponing garbage at BJ's when you could just go to Costco is beyond me.
Can anyone enlighten me? Have always found Costco manufacture coupon prices to be the same or better, and no extra work necessary.
The coupons are digital, so it's not like they're hard to use. You log in, click to add them, and then you can either order online or just do it in store, which is probably the better idea given that this is ice cream.
If you have an example of a better deal on the same items, I would appreciate it if you shared them

That's very true, time is money.
People spend an hour at Costco because overall the prices and quality are better, and I find it to be worth the time sacrifice, and seems others do too.
For me the coupons are almost less about the time and more about the principle. The wholesale club strategy is supposed to be simple.

i mean it's pretty simple, clip the coupons and you're good to go. i can literally check in for an in store pick up five minutes away and it'll be ready for me to pick up at the front of the store.

Sure , just on the first item I checked Costco's price is the same as your price *after* you have clicked and combined two coupons.
That seems dumb to me. And then when it goes on sale at Costco? It's even cheaper...

i've done cross shopping between the two and yes you have to clip the coupons for it to be the same price as costco. sometimes things are cheaper at bjs and sometimes costco. but the time saved at bjs is worth me paying an extra $5.

No skin in this game, as a LONGtime (25 years?) Costco member who loves and prefers it over BJs (member for 3 years or so). But for me personally, Costco is a 40 plus minute drive from my house and BJ's is less than 15 minutes. Someone else can calculate the gas savings these days . Also BJs has some stuff that I can't get at Costco (really good cranberry muffins come to mind instantly but also another half dozen items like mamba candy). Add in the ability to gas up more often, and its well woth the $15 for an annual membership to BJs in addition to my HIGH priced Costco membership (still worth it). Also agree the whole couponing game at BJs is a pain the you know what, but I play it.
But, yeah, build a Costco 20 minutes or less from me and I probably would drop the BJs membership. Til then, I'm a coupon clipper at BJs
Costco's regular everyday price on that item is $12.99
Even if it only takes a minute to click the coupon and get the same price , why would I support an organization that does that?
It's basically deceptive to people who don't know better.
If Costco was running a sale of course the price would beat BJ's
You're on slickdeals and know better. BJ's is a large bulk supermarket which operates under the fake Kohls pricing strategy. Regular prices are more or less a scam.

BJ's online prices match what you see in the store, even on clearance items. I just sit at my computer, check the prices, clip the coupons, put together my in-store shopping list, or place an online pickup order.
Sure, Costco may have better prices on some items, but BJ's definitely beats Costco on others.

Besides a mediocre cheap hot dog, I don't get the Costco hype. Three times as far a drive to be in a complete zoo of a store. BJs gets me most of what I need for close to, if not the same, prices. With none of the crowd.

FYI BJs has always allowed double couponing it is only in the last year or so that they publicly have been advertising it. In fact, they allow triple (or the rare occasion of quadruple couponing) whether it'll be double in app and a weekend paper coupon or some other combo. For this particular deal I have triple due to a general welcome coupon of $2 off a frozen treat that combines.
Others have listed the benefits of BJs and Costco, but for me it is the price of membership. Never paid more than $15. I let them expire and find a new deal shortly after. Joined for $9 earlier this month and got several welcome coupons including 10 off a 10 or more purchase. They had already sent me 2 coupon booklets in the mail asking me to rejoin and giving me a 10 off 100 coupon on each.
