This deal is not for me, but I thought some might like it. I put some fake info in, and the taxes were about $17. The taxes will obviously vary by location.

Out of curiosity, does it automatically unlock after 365 days of paid service? If not, can you request the unlock from outside of the United States after the period is over?

TF is horrible. If you don't use the phone for some time (ie make calls, send texts, etc), sometimes they automatically deactivate dormant accounts.

Is that 12gb annual plan the total amount you get a year or per month? I'm looking at the site and it doesn't say you get it per month.

and how are these not refrubs? I thought they stopped making them in 2023. Also Apple likely to discontinued updated by next year

As stated in the deal details, that's for the year. It's essentially the 1GB/mo planx12. However, you could burn through that 12GB in 1 month and not be left with any data for the rest of the year. It would be better if they gave you 1GB/mo.

Worked perfectly! It ended up being just $12.45 in additional taxes in Virginia on my order, so no big issue. This is a great deal. Thanks!

Old stock, I assume. I actually bought 2 iPhone 12 Minis from Straight Talk in Oct. They were brand new. I did need to send the receipt to Apple to get the standard Apple warranty.

Every cellular provider does that. You should be sending/receiving at least one text and one call every 15 or 30 day period.
A call or text every 180 days will be sufficient.

FAQ for these Track Phone posts

---------------

"Is the 365 unlimited package for the whole year?"

Actually...yes. Surprising! I know!

Usually Track Phone has a 1500/min per year scheme where it's a meager amount, unlike other countries with normally generous limits. This package has a pity 12gb of data for the 12 months, but unlimited talk and text.

Some might argue that's fine, they're on WiFi most of the time -- but hey, I don't need a car since I have mass transit. I don't need to buy food if I'm under a meal plan. And so on. It's amazing what you don't need when someone else is providing it, like someone else's network for a MOBILE device.

Some argue these are great for a "spare/backup phone". I can't tell you a single time I had something go wrong with my primary device, in such that I needed an active spare sitting around - but you do you...! Some of us grew up in the era of "we have a single corded phone mounted to the wall, no such thing as an answering machine." We survived without a magic rectangle surgically attached to our hands, and so can you. I believe in you.

"When does it unlock?"

AFTER 12 full months of ACTIVE PAID SERVICE. On paid month 13, you can request the device to unlock. Yes, it used to be different. Elections have consequences. I'd say file a complaint with the FCC, but you might be put on a list. And I might too for instigating pro-consumer action. In 2026, the squeaky wheel doesn't get the grease --> it gets replaced. (Just look up the Lattimer Mining Protest of 1897. And that was 129 years ago.)

Do you frequently buy locked phones, wait a year, then use the phone on another service? Sounds tedious. Why not just buy a phone for that service provider? Even if it's marginally more expensive, it can't be all that bad. You know what the kids say -- BUY ONCE CRY ONCE!

...until Planned Obsolescence makes you rebuy in 2-3 years! (Seriously, these things rarely last until month 36 of daily gentle use.) And this "I"-Phone was released in October of 2020. That's a six-year-old device. Hope it didn't degrade while in storage.

"Why don't they have a good referral bonus anymore?"

A scheme for new customers. Like with all good things, too many people abused it. So, Track Phone cut the bonus to a negligible amount.
