Someone in this thread said it worked for them but I do not see how. Their GV number may have originated from a wireless carrier and then was ported to GV before they ported it out to Metro.
From now on, to maintain tactical flexibility and readiness, I will keep on hand a two SIM card kits (Tello+US Mobile) to generate qualified transfer lines in my old unlocked Pixel smartphone. For Metro specifically, Tello numbers will be disqualified because the numbers originate on the T-mobile network. But US Mobile numbers will qualify. Tello will come in handy for locked phone deals on the Verizon network and both Tello and USM numbers can be used for ATT MVNOs. That's my plan.
You are selecting unlock on your google voice number, correct? The button next to it in your settings? You have to do that first and also have it connected to some live cell carrier number(any trial sim should do)before metro's system will let you move it. It was pretty straightforward for me which is why I was confused by all the comments. I had purposely avoided doing this the past few days because of the comments and then when I did it I was like...huh. Once metro gives you the okay and asks for your account number or whatever, you just put the 10 digit google voice number, your pin from your google voicemail(I had never set that up before so I had to do that), and a dummy zipcode. Then it was checkout and phone will arrive in 2-3 days with free shipping.
256gb is still twice the storage of 128gb
By biggest issue with either of these deals is the lock. The AT&T deal at Walmart has a trick to unlock it but I recall having a major headache last time I tried that.

I don't understand what you're trying to convey. All I know is that GV numbers are VOIP and Metro will boink them if there's a port in attempt during checkout for a promotional discount on a phone. It makes sense because carriers offer these device deals as a competitive tool to pull in mobile users from their competitors. We're technically trying to loophole in this policy.
