All that to say, I don't see AAA titles releasing physically much longer simply because you probably need a dual layer 4k disc in order to fit all of the game data. Nintendo still manages with many of their first party games, but they are certainly getting close, too. Pokopia is digital only (super fun game). I do hope Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo at least sell attachment drives for backwards compatibility. Heck, if Nintendo releases an attachment to connect old carts and discs to Switch 2, you know it would sell like crazy. Play original NES through your Switch 2 via a cart attachment. They won't though because of NSO, which is silly to me.
