Do not buy anything less then the io model 3. They motors aren't as strong or fast for good brush.

Oral-B iO Series 2 is a basic entry point into the iO line, but the strongest praise lands on higher models like the Series 3 and up for a stronger cleaning feel. The Series 2 is described as using a simpler motor, while the Series 3 and above are tied to the more advanced magnetic drive. The main drawbacks are weaker performance, a cheaper feel, and more crevices around the head and button that can trap debris or mold. A few reports also mention durability issues after years of use.

  • A Costco P&G rebate strategy can lower the effective cost of an iO Series 5 by buying two units separately.

    hellog00dbyeMellowTerrier3556

  • The P&G promo can produce a Costco digital gift card within a few days after receipt upload.

    dbcmeplease

  • The iO Series 2 uses a simpler linear pulse drive motor, which may feel less complex than higher iO models.

    RickB

  • Some buyers report being impressed by higher-end Oral-B iO models purchased at warehouse pricing.

    HuBu

  • The iO Series 2 can underperform because its linear pulse drive motor is described as less strong or fast than iO Series 3 and higher.

    kthejoker20RickB

  • The iO brush head stem design can trap gunk and promote mold growth due to a thicker stem with a hole.

    ak1802

  • Water intrusion can damage the motor when silicon around the button tears, including causing unexpected nighttime starts.

    baraclude

  • iO models can have shorter brush head life and weaker cleaning versus earlier Oral-B generations, leading to returns.

Citation? These branded brushes can cost upwards of $100 and often break after just two years. They also don't charge or develop mold simply because they get wet. Personally, I went back to a basic hand brush, but I've read about people using cheaper Amazon knockoffs and simply replacing them every couple of years.

My wife and I used Philips for the last 12 years and we only had to replace them once. So they lasted roughly 5-6 years for us. We wanted to try the oral B, but it just feels cheap compare to the philips, and it definitely have more crevices for mold to grow and debris to get trap. So we returned it and stuck with Philips.

There is a p&g promo for the series io 5 from Costco. Buy 2 separately and then file for rebate for >$100. Then you can get the series 5 for not too much. I love my series 3.

The Oral-B iO Series 2 uses a simpler linear pulse drive motor, while the iO Series 3 features a more advanced frictionless magnetic drive motor that provides a slightly stronger and more robust cleaning sensation. Note: 3 and higher. Now, whether the result is different clinically is unknown.

these are trash. I hate mine. Much prefer the 'only one' model listed presently on here for 8 bucks. it's a very great toothbrush. the oral b is a terribly designed under performing piece of hot garbage. I absolutely regret they got my money and I hate using it, which I rarely do.

Mine broke after 6 years. The silicon around the button had a tear. Water went in and mess up the motor. It would start up in the middle of the night scaring the living hell out of me.

I didn't like the fact that they switched the heads. My old Oral B just died and I wonder if I should get the older models

Agreed with this point. The Philips just feels like a more premium product and mine typically last 5+ years. The Oral B has a design flaw in which the brush head stem is thicker and has a hole in it allowing gunk and mold to grow. Compared to the Philips, where the brush head stem is slimmer and there is no hole in it for mold /gunk to collect.

Can confirm use of the P&G, buying this device plus some add on's to get to $100. Uploaded receipt, and had the Costco digital gift card within a few days

I've been using oral b since 2009. The io ones are weak and trash. I bought the series 6 io, then returned them. They don't clean as well as the previous generations. The io brush heads doesn't last long either.
