Doh...everything I buy at Costco goes on sale a week later. My family likes rice and this makes life easier. It does NOT speed up the process but you can set it and forget it without having to manage a burner on the stove. We have had decent results with the 25# bag of jasmine rice also from Costco.

I'm always going back with my receipts to get anywhere from $1.50 to $10 back!I wish they made it so we could do it through the app!I'm glad we can finally order cakes through the app.

Bought this and returned this, rice did not come out as great as my old zojirushi and the top would get messy but my main issue was for whatever reason the water level markings are gray so without a flashlight, you cannot see the water level lol. I refuse to measure with my finger with a $75 rice cooker

I purchased this for my girlfriend last year. She's been uses it 2-3 times each week with great results. Our main complaint is that the lid doesn't detach. However, that doesn't stop us from putting the machine on it's back with the lid open under the faucet to scrub it out. The water just drains right out of the vent hole.

I want a nice rice cooker so bad but wish they didn't all use non-stick inserts. I understand why they do but still wish they didn't since we've moved away from it in our house.

I'm sure this is a great rice cooker. I have an old micom Zojirushi and the timer function on this Tiger works the same: It's for setting a future time for the rice to be done cooking. I like cooking Japanese rice like Koshihikari and all the ones I tried suggest soaking for about 30-50 minutes before cooking. When I first learned how to use the timer, I thought it would work like a delayed start: just enter the soaking time and be done with it. What I was trying to avoid is having to come back to the rice cooker to turn it on after washing the rice. What I've learned to do when using timer is to set the timer's time to the current time then advance it past the soaking time and then advance it about an hour because the standard rice cooking time takes about an hour. On the Zojirushi, setting the timer's time is in 10 minute increments. So after setting it to about the current time on the cooker, I then press forward three, four or five times for the soaking time and then six more times for the cooking time and then start the timer cooking.

Some of the recent cookers I've seen use non-stick stainless steel or ceramic without the usual "bad" non-stick stuff.

LPT: get the salmon patties from freezer section. Break one or two up and put in the steamer basket. The salmon fat drips down into the rice.

The grey center knob hold the lid can be remove by pulling out for little easy to clean.

Another reason that I prefer stainless steel is the longevity. Those non stick coating would wear out eventually and require me to buy a new one.
