Creality PETG refill is a very cheap spool less filament that has been running cleanly for basic single color prints, with several reports of zero issues after multiple rolls and easy use in a generic PETG profile. The main practical note is temperature, since one setup needed the nozzle lowered to 220 from the spool's 230 minimum recommendation. Refill handling also matters, because the spool has to lock onto a reusable master spool before the bindings come off. It looks best suited to straightforward PETG printing rather than multicolor workflows.

Common Questions (5)

  • Creality CR-PETG refills are reported to be sized for standard 200mm reusable master spools, including printable 200mm spool designs and Bambu Lab-compatible dimensions. Some reusable spools do not fit every refill, so having a printable backup spool design is useful.

  • A generic PETG profile in Bambu Slicer works, and one user had to lower nozzle temperature to 220°C even though the spool recommends a 230°C minimum. That makes it worth checking your first-layer and temperature tuning rather than relying only on the label.

  • It is reported to work fine for single-color prints, but it is not ideal for multicolor use because the refill system does not work with other brands. That limits mixing it into a multicolor setup unless all filaments are from the same compatible system.

  • Place the refill on the reusable spool, line up the notch, twist to lock the spool halves together, and only then remove the plastic bindings. Removing the bindings first can let the refill unravel into a tangled mess.

  • The colors are described as muted, pastel-like rather than vivid. That can be a drawback for labels and signs, but it may be desirable when you want softer tones.

Speaking from experience, reusable spools don't fit all refills.

I can't say for sure with these but I'd locate some .stl files just in case
Thanks, I googled "are creality CR-PETG refill spools 200mm" and got "Yes, Creality CR-PETG filament refills (like many standard 1kg master spool systems) are specifically sized and designed to fit standard 200mm reusable master spools, including popular 200mm printable reusable spools and compatible ecosystems like Bambu Lab's 200mm spool dimensions."

I found this that I'm going to try as I like many of the features the designer incorporated:

The biggest problem I ran into was that Soleyin PLA wouldn't stick to other brand PLA, and it kept failing my multi-color prints. Then, I tried using that PLA as a support interface for PETG, and it stuck so well that I think they gave PETG with PLA label if it wasn't printing on PLA temperature.
Ah interesting, I never combined other filament. I did hear that about it. Thankfully for single color and any multicolor I used this stuff. But I hear you, I've heard terrible things about the stuff.

Shockingly not with this stuff, I have one printer that's multicolor and I use Sunlu for multifilament and this stuff I've only used for single color kid toys so far. But I'm glad I am reminded that multicolor on these isn't ideal!

I'm sure it would be ok to use all the different filament from Soleyin for multicolor, but unfortunately, it won't work with other brands.

Anyone know the diameter of the central hole? I have reusable spools, but they are from a different brand and I don't know if they will fit. The dimensions of the spool I have is
~200mm larger outer ring
~95mm smaller inner ring
Bambu, Sunlu (v3) and Anycubic spools are all interchangeable. Just FYI really.
