Thanks for sharing. Even though it's for new customers, if anyone has any luck getting something like this for existing customers, please share any success you have.

Also, is adding a mobile line necessary? Or can this deal work for internet only?

Cancel current plan and open new account under another household member. Been doing it this way for over a decade. Last I knew they consider each individual a new account holder after 6 months of not being a current customer.

I keep hearing people doing this, but I'm not sure of the exact steps. I can't really afford to go without the Internet even for a day due to my job. How exactly do you go about doing this?

"Xfinity internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable" - Meaning slow uploads. Typical cable company deceptive marketing.

They gave this to me over a year ago when it was time to annually 'renegotiate' my account. If you are a current customer, call & ask. Remember, the 1st rule of negotiation is if you never ask, the answer is always no.

& no, I did not get the mobile line. It still pops up as an offer in my xfinity app though...lol

No, it's not. Xfinity fiber optic come into the house via coaxial cable, both download and upload speeds are symmetrical.

It's not fiber if it runs over coaxial cable; the fiber only goes into your neighborhood, then is split and wired into the houses from wherever the fiber node is via coaxial cable. Coaxial cable is susceptible to weather and network load issues depending on how many are using it, so it's very likely the upload will never be symmetrical and most likely incredibly slow in comparison to the download speeds. It's a hybrid approach to save them money while still trying to market as it being fiber.

I switched to their prepaid service "Xfinity Now." $30/month for 100 Mbps, $45 for 200 Mbps. Includes equipment and no cap. Although they seem to be phasing out the cap anyway.

There is no term or yearly increases. That's not to say they couldn't raise prices tomorrow. FIVE years price-lock on this one is tempting.

Speed hasn't been an issue and our household is 4 people with no TV so we're streaming constantly. I work from home and do plex stuff. Kids game, everyone watches youtube. The only time you notice 100-200 Mbps is when you're downloading a game on Steam, it takes a bit longer.
