none of my computers have an ethernet port. i have Google's router. I just ran speed test on the Google Home app and it showed 873Mbps download speed. so it must be the router? or some settings like you said but i don't see anything on the app to change.

I swore I'd never go back to comcast a long time ago - but I did this several months ago - and no regrets so far. Internet speeds faster than they promised - haven't had issues. And I didn't even realize the 1 free year of cell service included - but line switched carriers recently - and that has also worked well.

I bought their $50, 1 gb, 5 year price lock, deal earlier this summer but they had me capped at 35mbps upload (old 1 gb plan). This was right before speed increases. This deal includes the new 1gb plan with upload speeds up to 100mbps (in reality I see closer to 120mbps) on the 1gb plan.

I signed up for a new deal yesterday as if I was moving to my current house as a new customer (in an Incognito tab). During the checkout process they give you the option of signing into your account to keep everything organized. I logged into my account when prompted and after checkout it attached the new 1gb plan for $50 to my account. Yesterday, after sign up, I had 2 active account numbers for my same login. Xfinity had the equipment delivered the same day. I installed it last night and sure enough I was able to finally get the higher upload speeds. The modem they sent me (model: XB10, DOCSIS 4.0) is also newer than what I had (XB8), but the old XB8 modem was capable of the higher upload speeds so it was something my account had been locked out of on the old 1gb, $50, 5 year price lock, deal. I just got an email from Xfinity today that they acknowledged my cancelling of the old line (it was automatic I didn't even have to call them).

Also, be sure to login to your modem after setting it up and disabling the Xfinity hotspot unless you want strangers utilizing your equipment (even though it is supposedly secure). Clever of Xfinity to do it, but I hate that it is enabled by default.

yeah i didn't this too, but had to pay the $15-$25 modem fee, the 1 month/duration of the current bill + overalap of the new bill. Ended up being an extra $87 to save ~$15/month for the next 5 years. so in the end, it was still worth it.

They say there is no modem monthly fee. They add a $1.57 each month to my bill which would not exist if I supplied my own modem. A universal service fee charge that is for the modem. I am not going to complain too much. The gigabyte plan comes with Peacock and no data caps for 5 years. If you use wifi, get your own router if you expect high speeds. For wired speeds the real world speed down is 940-950mbps and 45mbps up. The speeds are faster up if your area has upgraded xfinity services out at the pole. Then you would get 150-200mbps up.

When DOCSIS 4.0 modems are available in your area. Nothing matters and speeds should be 1gbps up and 1gbps down.

I have had the 5 year unlimited internet deal since January 2026. Lastly, they gave me 1.2gbps for my service but I have not upgraded my switches to 2.5gbps as of yet. So I sit at 1gbps.

The same offer was available a month or 2 ago and I was able to switch to it as an existing customer (I was a new customer though, only ~1 month) by simply calling them. I was actually able to see this offer on my xfinity "upgrade plan" page, it did not actually let me switch though, so I tried my luck calling CS and it worked. I also have their free 1 year unlimited mobile line, don't know if that affects things. When I first signed up, I was paying $70 for the 1gig, 5 years guaranteed.

It's the other way around, a mobile line requires home broadband service. I have Xfinity cable service (1 Gbps, 300 Mbps). They offer 1 mobile free for the 1st year. That's what "1-Year Xfinity Mobile Line Service" means. It isn't mandatory. I didn't take their mobile service.

XB8 is cable gateway/router/triband WiFi. I don't think it is compatible with fiber service. Xfinity use a different gateway/router on the fiber service.

Xfinity is extremely unreliable in my city especially compared to AT&T fiber. I wish it was better since its much cheaper than AT&T.

XB10 is newest Wifi 7 and XER10 for EPON Fiber.
