Use THAT competition to your advantage.
Don't call and say I want the new customer price as a new customer. They have a teleprompter in India script designed specifically to thwart that negotiation method.
Call and say you are going to switch to TMobile because they give you better uploads, better price, pinker corporate color, etc.
They will IMMEDIATELY transfer you over to the retention department who will be ready and authorized to GIVE YOU WHATEVER YOU WANT. This person will NOT be in India and will be smarter and more professional than the average call center drone.
Understand that it costs them nothing to keep you as a loyal customer, so bury the knife to the hilt in them.
I got a two year 1.5 gig download contract, unlimited data PLUS a guaranteed static IP (T-mobile uses godawful CGNAT) which is important because I host servers, reverse proxy, etc., and I can cancel anytime for $65 incl. tax per month.
Use this power wisely SD'ers! Remember you know them nothing but contempt.

I'm on the fence as to whether this is worth my time again.
My last two interactions with the company's staff—one when opening the account and the other when closing it—were negative. I was told by the Xfinity staff members at the store that their CEO believes customers are stealing from the company when they use their own modems, gateways, or routers, and I faced a service cap when I try it. When I returned the internet equipment during my last visit to the Xfinity store, the employee followed me outside while hurling insults at me.
The hardware is not bad (they made me pay for my own Wi-Fi, and that was a uphill battle), but the staff and their business model are horrible! By the way, Comcast, AT&T, and Xfinity all share that same terrible philosophy and behavior.
It's quite the rigamarole to port that out and back in though.
I'm on the fence as to whether this is worth my time again.
