How well does this work on Nikon with a Z adapter, and how would it compare with the native Z 50 1.8 which costs $450-500+?
It's not a good enough lens to justify adapting it. You'd be much better off buying a native Z lens. This is Sony's cheapest prime and anecdotally I found it to be very unimpressive.

Thanks, that's what I eventually thought. Like I said, the native Z lens is in a different price class (and Sony competes at that level as well), ultimately I decided that a 50mm is not terribly useful these days for me, currently rocking the Z 40/2 which is decent enough for the price, and I'm finding even 40mm is a tad tight sometimes.
