A data point here. I planned for this promo. Opened a flex line with Google Fi on July 8th. As of today, July 30th. I still only see $300off+ Bill Credits. (22 days)

I decided to pull the trigger on Samsung.com by trading my Zflip7. It won't let me checkout on the website. Tried via Shop Samsung app as well, but that also got stuck. I signed out of the Samsung app and now can't sign back in. What a mess.

Which plan are you on? You need to be on flexible/unlimited premium

Edit: I see you mentioned flex. check on the app/website etc.

As someone who buys and sells a lot of used devices, Samsung phones drop like a rock in value over time. So keep in mind that this will not hold its value for long even at this price.

This year samsung trade ins are pretty good. Did you get fold or the ultra? Hope you also used the credits to buy the accessories during checkout.

I am not that impressed. They inflate the price of the phone and make you think you are getting a great deal by inflating the trade in value. They also give you $200 accessory credit if you do not trade in , so it makes it even more misleading. I will admit it is phone dependent though, some phones have better overinflated values than others, the Flip7 is not one of them. As you mentioned the Ultras hold their value better. For example, not sure on Samsung, but with the deal at Amazon, the S23 Ultra and the Flip7 are almost identical trade in values , which is kind of ridulous given how old the s23 is and original cost of phone. In addition trade in values are lower if buying the Flip8 vs the Folds. Also worth noting is Samsung does not give extra on trade ins for extra storaage, ie 512gb , 256gb get same value

This is why I prefer to buy from Google Fi. The Fold8 is $1200 without tradein. I can sell my 512gb Flip7 for $500-$600 then the phone really cost me $600-700. If instead I get a deal on Samsung trading in my phone for $1000, I am out $300-$400 for the minor inconvience of selling my phone privately.

Yes, I did the math multiple times and getting it from Fi and selling locally always comes out on top during release time. However, during black Friday, if last year was any indication, you could get a fold without trade in for less than $1000 from Samsung so doing that and selling the older phone locally would give you the most value for your money.

Yes. Z Fold8 256gB Pistachio color. $950 + tax (700 trade disc for Flip7 + 100 amex + 100 paypal +100 edu). The price includes Buds4 Pro.

Yeah but if they are giving $950 for the Ultra, you really cant view it as $950 because the prices are inflated and if you do not trade anything in you get a $200 accessory credit. So my point is in many cases, and its definitely based on the phone model, its better to go with Fi and not trade in , and sell privately
