I have it and love it. If in doubt - grab it and you won't disappointed! UE HYPERBoom is slightly superior, but it also costs more.

Reason Onyx 1-4 held up so well is it is 60 watt RMS while 5-current verison is only 50 watt. I'm sure it sounds better but true RMS is still true RMS. I also use it as desktop speakers. One at home and one at work. Never really used them for the wireless function.
What kind of mod did you do? I never knew such a thing existed
