5G has low-band (~100Mbps), mid-band (100~300Mbps), and high-band (≥300Mbps).
VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile all have very similar coverage for low-band.
Mid-band coverage & speeds: T-Mobile > VZW >> AT&T.
High-band speeds: T-Mobile >> AT&T.
Admittedly, mid-to-high-band 5G is more than fast enough for anything most of us do on phones.
Best to do esim and be done with it. Waiting for a sim card asks for trouble.
