I've seen this in the past for $20 on yellow tag clearance and STILL didn't buy it.. it could have been just tool only though

I got the battery and tool for mid 40's a couple of years ago and it has come in handy during an extended power outage because I had several batteries charged on the shelf. We were able to charge the laptop and several phones a few times until the power came back.

for anyone who can't do the math... an 18v 2.0ah battery is only 36-40Wh of energy capacity. which also means that you are looking at nearly 10C discharge rate when pulling 175W. So this is really only for small loads and won't last long in theory. like 15 minutes or less I'm guessing if you are pulling 160W. also probably a bit rough on the batteries depending what their max discharge rate really is.

Agreed. Anyone who actually needs power backup is better off looking for real UPS and generator solutions. This is really just a (bad) last resort solution for those who have nothing else. I wouldn't pay money for the inverter tool. I'd only get this if the price was favorable for the battery alone. For the battery alone this isn't a good deal.

Curious is this used mainly as a power station or as an emergency during an outage? Agree as a power station, this is pretty pointless. But during an outage, wouldn't this be helpful to plug a 10-15W LED light into to get through the night (shower, brush teeth, etc.) until you go to bed and hope the power is on by the next sunset? I find this outage use case pretty compelling for something like this, especially if you're already in the Ridgid ecosystem with several batteries.

I have 3 of Ridgids larger 12AH versions I found on sale for $120ea and I think that would work very well with this attachment on a trip or camping. Also according to the specs it says all battery versions are compatible.

I just tried this while camping with a 12ah battery and it was incapable of blowing up an airbed. On higher settings it would overload the inverter and on lower settings the non-sine-wave output was causing the motor to buzz and not turn. It was good at charging phones but I returned it.
