This Greenworks 80V zero turn stands out for quiet, smooth mowing with no gas, oil, belts, or pulleys to maintain. Real-world cutting sounds strong, including mulching on the slowest speed with the highest blade speed and enough range for multiple mows or roughly an acre on a charge in some yards. The main cautions are slope handling, which can feel top heavy and awkward on gradients, and charging quirks, since the fans may keep running until unplugged. Battery replacement later could also be costly, making it a practical fit for flatter lawns and low-maintenance ownership.
Common Questions (5)
No, the charger and mower fans can keep running after the batteries are full, so it may need to be unplugged manually. A smart plug or timer can work around this by shutting power off after a set time.
It can feel top-heavy on hills because the seat sits high over the batteries, and it does not like mowing lengthwise on gradients. It is still usable with practice, but slopes are not its strong suit and can make the mower feel like it wants to turn into the hill.
Real-world runtime varies a lot with grass height and terrain, but it can cover about an acre with 50-60% battery left in one report and about 4 mows per recharge in another. Heavy grass or larger acreage can cut that down sharply, with one user reaching only about one-third of 2 acres of 1-foot grass.
It avoids gas, oil, belts, and pulleys, so routine upkeep is much simpler and quieter than a gas zero turn. The tradeoff is that battery replacement can be a major future expense, often estimated at 5-7 years out.
The 60V Walmart version did not include the mulching kit, chute, or bagging blade, and the needed parts had to be sourced through support. The mulching setup also required brackets to shift the deck holes into the right position.

It's left over from my abandoned attempt at building a tiny home in a box truck. It's fun to use the extra power to charge lawn care batteries, the Greenworks mower taxes the system during all but full sun but if I use the solar system I save a whopping $10 a year.
