Nice. I'm interested in the rooftop king. Do they just put a king bed on the top of the roof?

Forwarning: If you want a relaxing vacation, this isn't the place for you. There are kids everywhere running rampant. It's very difficult to get restaurant reservations so you have to resort to the buffet. Service was iffy but most staff were great. I'd give the food a 3 out of 10. Pool is very nice. Long wait time for drinks when it's busy. Stayed earlier this year and would not go back. The Riviera Maya area is the place to be with better everything, especially the beaches. Want relaxation without constant screaming and running kids? Then choose an adults only resort. Why anyone would take an infant and toddlers on this type of vacation is beyond me, and it's loaded with them. Riu Palace resorts are a best buy and high quality. We usually go to the Cancun area twice a year and Puerto Vallarta (Riviera Nayarit area) at least once per year.

If you want to go to a resort with no kids around then you should search for an adults only resort. It's pretty obvious but maybe not for you. All-inclusive is one of the more easier trips to plan WITH kids. You try planning for meals and activities for people other than yourself for multiple days. Keep your "forwarning" to yourself next time. LOL
Dang, someone hit a nerve. I actually appreciate the "forewarning"

Mexico? No thank you. So many beautiful and crime free Caribbean islands to go to. Try Aruba or Curacao. Walk around at night. Enjoy the friendly culture and great food. Mexico isn't even close.
I myself prefer Curacao (didn't care for Aruba, felt like a NJ strip mall in a Caribbean location). That said, there's a pretty big difference in price between those two and your average Cancun destination.

Curacao is certainly very different than Aruba. More European, less touristy. I like them both but you are right, there are different vibes. True it's more expensive but you gotta go where you like. Thx

My family of four just returned from a 4-day visit to this resort and had an amazing time. It's a FAMILY resort but they also have adults-only areas including a pool and two restaurants. We had zero issues booking reservations for any of the restaurants - they actually remind you to book your reservations during check-in. Even so, changing reservations wasn't an issue at all. The resort is brand new so it was pristine. It also wasn't crowded at all when we went. The families we saw there were well-behaved and apologetic when their kids were overly excited. Why you would choose to go to a family-oriented resort and complain about kids is beyond me.

Not bad at all. We've stayed at resorts in the hotel zone and the smell and piles of sargassum made the beaches unusable. Resorts along Playa Mujeres are protected from sargassum and what little landed on the beach was raked up in the early mornings. That's not to say there's none at all but there's very little.
