P.S. the entire DVR setup was cool too, especially in the days where the only way to play movies on the go required manually ripping or torrents, and then the playback options were still pretty limited. It was a super easy way to record TV and watch it later where ever / whenever you wanted. I've watched countless hours of video that way from breakrooms and sitting in my car (avoiding the people in the breakroom....).

The contemporary 5th gen iPod was a solid predictor of the future prominence of captive digital storefronts, but arguably the Archos showed the clearer path the future form factor?
- Overlooking the bezel and buttons, the Archos rocks a 480×272 resolution 16:9 screen
- The iPod had a well-developed store, but also a 4:3 screen that still only commanded half the face of the device
Good times.Admittedly even the 42" plasma from Gateway Computers would giggle at those numbers (it was 852 x 480 pixels for its sub-$3000 price)
This wasn't necessarily as bad as it sounded given the shape of the average TV back then...
