This OmniBook X Flip stands out as a lightweight 14 inch OLED 2 in 1 with a bright, colorful display, strong hinge, and a compact 65W USB C charger. The aluminum and plastic chassis looks more expensive than the price, and the keyboard and brown finish get positive reactions. The main drawback is the Ryzen AI 5 430, which is repeatedly described as a 4 core chip better suited to light tasks than virtual machines or heavier work. Battery removal is documented in the manual, but the small keyboard keys and occasional concern about the power adapter add some caution.

A PassMark multi-core score of 13,330 today is an absolute insult. Six years ago, I bought a budget laptop with a Ryzen 4700U for $400, and it scored 13,115.

Let's call this what it is: Big Tech is cannibalizing the consumer market. Hyperscalers and the AI industrial complex are hogging every high-end silicon wafer, cutting-edge chip node, and gigawatt of power to build their bloated data center monoliths. Meanwhile, regular consumers are being fed overpriced breadcrumbs and rebadged, stagnant hardware. Moore's Law didn't die it was stolen by tech monopolies, leaving the rest of us in a PC market dark age.
The new cheap is far faster single threaded and still has 4 cores. The new chip has a far faster GPU too. Most people would be much happier with this. But yeah, it's no powerhouse. Let me know how your time machine is working.

If buying for a qualifying college student, the Microsoft Ultiimate bundle is atleast worth 150 dollars.

Light vms, I assume it is virtual machines. The laptop has only 16gb memory and also only 4 cores. Totally not suitable for any VM's. For applying jobs it is fine.
Get this for beautifully crafted aluminium and plastic chassis, very good display-to-bezel ratio, deep espresso color is also nice. Full color gamut. The laptop is light and surely looks more expensive than 650 dollars.

Bro, even this simple SlickDeal App needs multi-core performance during each app launch......what are you talking about....even the built-in GPU, they are almost identical and in fact, the grandma 4700U may perform better in certain scenarios......

4 cores, 8t is just fine for most uses. I spent decades with slower machines. I get a lot done multitasking with a 18316 passmark.

This uses a simple 4 core processor. It is for light weight stuff.
Thank you for pointing this out. Amd's naming scheme is horrible and I just assumed this was at least a 6 core and far more powerful.

Absolutely agree. I can't believe that amd is putting out a 4 core processor in anything above like a super budget Chromebook.
