In normal times, one would think this price would be for "New", but given how screwed up things are, this is a pretty good deal if you can find one.
Not sure why you were down-voted when what you said absolutely makes sense. This is indeed a decent deal with today's prices. Unfortunately BB open box are extremely location-dependent and the rare cases when they ship(with the major drawback of not being able to inspect before pick-up), they usually go out in minutes to a couple hours depending on how sought after the device is.
I picked one up today. It was a floor display model that had been out on the floor since June 2025. I returned it. They did not have this model on display any longer so I think they must be clearing out display models.

Last year these were regularly $1,700 to $1,800. I got one for $1,600 open box from Best Buy. The pricing on these is all messed up, they're priced around the same level I expect we will see the 12gb 5070 model laptops at.

I don't think so -- 12gb 5070 laptops will likely be priced at $2,000 plus

They will be priced much more than that. The prices on the 2026 models went up across the industry, and they're all really hard to justify. Ex. the 2026 G14 with 5070ti is $3400 brand new. Yes, there are improvements over the 2025 but not enough to justify that price jump. All thanks to AI and memory price fixing.

How did u figure it was display? Did u check at store or home and did all the checks?? Did it come with charger??. It says clearance so wondering if this will never come back or need to wait for 5070 12gb models... Sill haven't picked up a FAIR one

Fortunately there was a sticker on the bottom of the computer that said "floor display June 2025". If that hadn't been there I wouldn't have been able to tell aside from the fact that the case is white and I could see a ton of discoloration from dust around the intakes for the fans. It did include the charger.
It would have been a good deal for something with a couple cycles/hours but over a year sitting on the floor wasn't worth the risk and there was no way Lenovo was going to honor a warranty on that.

bestbuy openbox does have warranty not sure how long but.. DisplayModel is an issue.. I haven't picked up mine yet... I gave back Ultra 7 5060 which I got for 1200 back in June and I just couldnt resist not having the legion 7i.. Its beautiful all around.. The screen and KB... So Dilemma to pickup or not and if its acceptable, do I keep it or wait for 5070 12GB models..

Picked up mine in "fair" condition. Warranty was expired but I submitted a purchase receipt to Lenovo and they reset the warranty to a full year! I used a little cleaner and it looks amazing now! For the price, I couldn't pass it up.

I also got one of these. Mine was also a floor display model. "How did you know?"
First sign: dust bunnies inside the rear cooling fins.
Yeah, I know this happens to every laptop, but they take time to form... That doesn't happen in just a month or two. Also, lots of sticker residue in weird places on the laptop chassis.
The true confirmation was running crystalsiskinfo to check the SSD. Nearly 8000 hours (333 days) of power on time. Like the other poster, I also checked the warranty and it expired in June... So I'm really debating whether or not to keep it.
Battery health is good, crystal disk has the drive health at 96% despite the age. Maybe I'll see if Lenovo will reset the warranty.
It is a beautiful laptop otherwise. Yeah I wish it was a 5070ti, but it seems like you have to pay big money for those due to the demand.
