This Klein ratcheting pass through crimper and CAT6 plug kit stands out for making Ethernet terminations easier, especially with the matching pass through connectors. The tool is described as simple to use, even for first time CAT6 runs, and it has been used successfully on CAT6A as well. Long term durability looks solid in some reports, with 100 plus connections and 200 plus cables still cutting and crimping normally. A weaker note is that another report says performance dropped after about 30 to 35 crimps. The kit looks like a practical pass through setup if you want cleaner terminations and can accept some price premium.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes. It has been used successfully for CAT6 runs and also reported working well on CAT6A cables. The pass-thru design makes termination easier because the conductors can be trimmed cleanly after insertion.

    chriskim15wbg87aendil

  • It has held up for 100+ connections with no change in performance, and another user reports 200+ cables on similar tools. A caveat is that one unit started cutting poorly after about 30-35 crimps and did not recover even after a blade replacement.

    pechangortnlsltnDaShocKer

  • Yes. The pass-thru method is described as much easier than traditional non-pass-thru termination and can produce a clean, consistent finish. It is especially helpful when paired with the matching Klein crimp tool.

    chriskim15magoogalizerwbg87

  • The kit is functional and includes the tool plus 50 CAT6 plugs, but a similar Klein kit was previously mentioned at $16 last November. That makes the current price notably higher than an earlier deal.

Any experience with this tool and the pass-thru connectors? Are the pass through connectors worth it?

OMG yes. The pass-thru connectors (along with the crimp tool for these) makes things SO much easier. You get a perfect termination every time.

How is this a deal?

Price history shows this is the regular price for the last year.

In fact it has been cheaper several times.

I had good luck with a $~15-20 clone from Amazon for doing a dozen or so crimps a few years ago. Can't say if it would hold up as well as the name brand if you are doing hundreds, but I was happy saving a few bucks.

I did but both of these not in sale and they do work well. Better than the traditional non pass through method in my opinion

I'm a huge fan of Klein but can't recommend this based on use. After about 30-35 crimps it stopped working well - cutting the excess wires and securing the pass through end. Even after replacing the blade it didn't work great. Ended up getting a look-a-like tool on Amazon and haven't used the Klein one since.

I've done well over 100 connections with this and the connectors and it's working the same as day one.

I'm sure I could have purchased something cheap on amazon but those are the gamble these days and i'm not about that anymore. This is a great tool.

I've been using the Chinese version of this tool, which looks nearly identical, and costs $12-ish. Works great. Over 200 cables in on 2 tools and still cutting and crimping normally.

I purchased one similar to this [amazon.com] back in 2019 and worked great. It is still around 15.00.
