Community Reviews

This Tapo 2K outdoor pan and tilt floodlight camera stands out for easy setup, strong image quality, and a solid app experience, with no subscription needed to record and watch video. The solar setup can recharge fast in direct sun, and the camera can do 24,7 recording or motion based capture depending on setup. The main tradeoffs are battery and solar limits, which can mean slower pan movement and less reliable person detection than a wired camera. The 25 percent Amazon Visa back also makes the price more attractive.

It's not continuous 24/7 recording. It's just continuous snapshots at set intervals.
So the app offers an option 24/7. Its details state "snapshots or low frame rate video."

Looks like the 25% back with the Chase Prime Card has disappeared for me. Just a heads up.

That's exactly what it is. Just snapshots/low frame rate video which is "series of still images at regular time intervals to represent motion". If you need a solar camera that can do continuous recording, Reolink altas with the 12w solar panel. The 6w solar panel that it comes with won't be able to keep up.

I have a different variant, Tapo 2k from Costco. Thieves were able to disable recording by using WiFi jammer.

1:26 AM: Car fine
2:53 AM: Next motion event, showing car trunk popped.

They ransacked the car, left without a trace. Camera pointed directly at the car.

Anyone have any experience with both Tapo and Reolink (or something else)? Been trying to decide which one to go with.
I have the camera in this deal as well, works great. Small issues getting the solar to work - thought it wasn't getting enough direct sunlight under an overhang, turns out the cable was loose or something and when I went to check and wiggle everything, all of the sudden it works great. And like another commenter said, since it's solar/battery, the pan mode isn't great. The intervals between moving are a little long for me. But all minor given the camera and what you get for the price, I really like it and have 2 similar wired versions. Highly recommend Tapo.

The recording is on local SD card. How WiFi jammer disabled it?

I've got a Tapo, a Reolink, and a couple of Wyze. The Reolink app is horrible. Doesn't matter that the hardware might be a little better than the other 2. Unless you are willing to take the effort to make the Reolink work with a 3rd party app, stay away.

What is the best way to get a card that works with the 25% back?
