They can be charged separately without a case. Question is if you want to shell extra $20 for a case

Mine came with a USB-C charging cable that was split and had 2 hookups at the end. I can charge both mics at the same time. I've had them for about 2 weeks and used them for about 4 hours over maybe 15 videos and they're still above 50% charge, so the battery seems to last a while.
