We used to love our Roku tvs (we have a few around the house). But in the past month that changed. We can no longer watch OTA (via antenna), without internet connection. We have spotty wifi in one spot room and the tv won't work now.
Tv pause and rewind now frequently freezes and you can't get the channel to come back, it just freezes and you have to change channels.
Live TV with antenna and internet is super slow to load and there are a ton of worthless channels, while good channels come and go without warning.
Some shows just disappear- Castle, just completely got wiped off the planet. Can't find it via search... watched it last week, now its gone.
Apps are requesting us to login everytime we launch them.
Home screen got updated and it's now slow with tons of crap that you cannot change. Don't want a bunch of sports stuff, too bad, no longer removable.
Roku seems to be a dead platform now, so I can no longer recommend a TV with it integrated.

Would it work with an external streaming device, like a FireStick or ONN puck?
Some of these TVs with the integrated OS are horrible even with an external device.
1080p spread over 40inches sounds awful. Would definitely only have as a guest tv that's uncommonly used.
At least the TV is from 2025 so the Roku inside should be new enough to handle heavier apps like Netflix has become.
the enshittification of TV apps pisses me off so much. All I want is a fast loading, smooth scrolling TV app. It's like developers are actively working their butts off the past decade to make sure this is an impossible luxury to have. Every time a more powerful streaming device gets released they find some dumbass way to make their apps bloated enough to be laggy on said device
I'd only buy a 1080p tv if I needed to be thrifty with my data usage and I wasn't tech savvy enough to avoid selecting 4k streaming content. $100 is pretty cheap, but I really would prefer to pay a little more for a 4k 43" if it were me. I saw one for $130 a month or so ago on here.

This is a tv not a monitor and 40 inches is fairly small for a tv so you wouldn't notice if it were 4k.
