Is this a decent deal? 58% is hefty and tempting, but I've always known Best Buy to have crazy mark ups.

We had an outage for three days in Illinois due to storms. Would've been nice to have been able to use a toaster over or microwave just to warm up food and recharged it during the day outside with the solar panels.

Keep looking, 300 watts / 600 surge won't due for a toaster or microwave. A two slice toaster typically needs 850 watts continuous and a microwave that or more. You probably need to spend 2 to 3 x more for a solar generator and panel to handle those requirements. Maybe just a 2200 watt gas generator for $450 would do you better. It can handle a full size refrigerator as well. Or best of both worlds a gas generator to recharge a decent sized solar generator. Any panels would be a bonus but not a necessity if you are looking at just a day or two of downtime.

Good to know. It was the longest I'd been without power. Previously, it was, maybe, 12 hours? This was nearly three full days and quite a bit of food went to waste because of it. Not to mention the cost of inconvenience.

Might be worth it for me to invest the more expensive ones, since this one outage cost about $200 in groceries alone.

Ya with how crazy cheap batteries are getting you can get a 1000/1500w 1000wh battery for the same price as this. No solar panel but the lifepo4 batteries keep charge like crazy.

We have a 1000wh one to power the fridge for short stints when our power goes out and a smaller 250wh battery just to power phones and laptops.

Also great for camping.
