Note: I didn't include the Standard Kit in this deal post because it doesn't reach the free shipping threshold (shipping is $15 on orders under $49), and ends up more expensive than the Starter Kit.

For everyone asking what part is "AI powered" ๐Ÿ˜‚ โ€” surprisingly, there actually IS an AI part, just not where the marketing makes it sound like it is.

The machine itself isn't sitting there contemplating the meaning of art ๐Ÿค–๐ŸŽจ. It's basically an automated sketching/plotting machine. The AI is in LOKLiK's IdeaStudio software, which can generate artwork from prompts and help turn photos/designs into something the iPaint can sketch onto your surface. It creates the outlines/color guide, then us primitive humans still have to pick up the brush and actually paint it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The part I actually find more interesting than the "AI" marketing is what you can put in the thing. According to LOKLiK, it supports:

๐ŸŽจ Regular/rolled canvas
๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Canvas panels
๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Stretched canvas (canvas already mounted on the wooden frame)
๐Ÿ“„ Watercolor and printer paper over 80gsm
๐Ÿชต Flat wood boards
๐Ÿงต Embroidery fabric/cotton

Basically, if it's flat enough, fits within the roughly 16.5" ร— 11.7" working area and is under 16mm (about 5/8") thick, there's a decent amount you can experiment with.

So basically:

AI: "I have analyzed your photo and created art."

Machine: draws tiny numbered lines

Me: "Wow, the future!"

Also me 6 hours later painting section #37 with a 2mm brush: ๐Ÿ˜

So "AI-powered painting machine" is definitely doing some marketing heavy lifting, but it's not completely made up either. Honestly, the ability to take your own photo/design and turn it into a custom paint-by-number on actual stretched canvas is probably cooler than the AI buzzword. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So, this draws a picture, that the person then paints? If that's the case, I have some artistic grandkids that would enjoy this. Does it copy a photograph or can you program it to draw something?

I think people do paint by numbers as a stress outlet and / or because they lack any drawing abilities (for example for turning a photo into a realistic canvas painting), not a lack of creativity. Not to mention creating the designs is an act of creativity itself. Especially since they will have to be hand painted as well. But if you see a problem with the concept, I guess spend your money else where Wink

What's the benefit of this vs printing?
Have an idea, have AI generate something, print vs sketch the AI Slop, paint it yourself

I would imagine it's the ability to print on larger, more varied media (e.g. canvas, fabric, wood, etc.).

I'm actually fairly intrigued by this and may get it.
