Dual RP1400s for $699 each is a subwoofer sweet spot that we have never seen before. It's an insane pairing for under $1500.
Community Reviews
The Speedwoofer 12S is a large ported 12 inch sub that stands out for deep, visceral bass and strong home theater output. It is repeatedly described as a monster that can shake a room, with low end rumble, adjustable settings, and performance that compares favorably with pricier subs like the SVS PB2000 Pro. The main tradeoff is size, since it needs real floor space and is a blind buy with a return cost if it does not fit or suit the room. Sale pricing around $799, with occasional drops near $719 or extra PowerBuy savings, makes the value angle especially strong.
Home theater fans in large open rooms, because the 12S delivers strong sub-20Hz extension and room-shaking output for movie rumbles.
Listeners upgrading from smaller 10-inch subs, because the 12S adds a night-and-day jump in low-end rumble and impact.
Buyers who want a ported sub with strong value, because it compares favorably with pricier models while costing less.
Shoppers who can fit a large cabinet, because the enclosure is big and the sub performs best when the space can accommodate it.
Apartment or bedroom setups with tight space, because the enclosure is large and can be hard to place or move.
Buyers who need a compact subwoofer, because the cabinet is much larger than smaller 10-inch alternatives.
Shoppers who want easy returns after a blind buy, because returning it costs $150 or only 80% of the money comes back.
People prioritizing the smallest footprint over maximum low-bass impact, because two smaller subs can give smoother bass while the 12S is chosen for visceral extension.

Ime they are very similar, both favor extension performance.
Mid bass performance goes to this imo.
TBH you would only tell the slight differences in a side by side comparison.
Imo the over all edge goes to this because of flexibility and better CS.
Sonically you can't go wrong with either though.

The higher end manufacturers like REL, SVS, ML, HSU, Rhythmik all make better subs in smaller cabinets. Even Dayton, Polk, Monoprice, etc. know how to do it. RSL needs a big cabinet due to that wonky rear port design.
Larger size doesn't make a "better sub" but it will affect what you're hearing and you may like it better.

Here are the real-world Height x Width x Depth NUMBERS vs two similar-performance competitors from SVS and Hsu:
- RSL 12s: 22.3 x 19 x 22 ($800)
- SVS PB2000 Pro: 21 x 17.3 x 23.6 ($1200)
- Hsu VTF-2: 21.5 x 15" x 24 ($850)
The RSL is 1.5-2" taller but 1.5-2" shallower so overall cabinet volume is roughly the same across different brands for a good ported 12" sub.Just be sure you want it because it's $150 to return it if you don't like it.
