The Speedwoofer 12S is a large ported 12 inch sub that stands out for deep, visceral bass and strong home theater output. It is repeatedly described as a monster that can shake a room, with low end rumble, adjustable settings, and performance that compares favorably with pricier subs like the SVS PB2000 Pro. The main tradeoff is size, since it needs real floor space and is a blind buy with a return cost if it does not fit or suit the room. Sale pricing around $799, with occasional drops near $719 or extra PowerBuy savings, makes the value angle especially strong.

No direct comparison but experience with both.

Ime they are very similar, both favor extension performance.
Mid bass performance goes to this imo.

TBH you would only tell the slight differences in a side by side comparison.

Imo the over all edge goes to this because of flexibility and better CS.
Sonically you can't go wrong with either though.

I used to have a 10" version and wasn't satisfied with its performance. Moreover, it willed get into that green red light blinking mode and wouldn't come out of it unless to reset it. Heard their amps go out frequently and so I wouldn't recommend monolith. RSL has a good reputation but I don't have any experience with it.

If you are not a WAF prisoner and especially if you have a big open plan living room, this is a no-brainer. You're getting similar or better performance than the $1200 SVS PB2000 Pro for 2/3 of the price. Look up the CEA-2010 measurements for both and compare.

I've owned it for a year plus now... It's a monster. Night and day difference from the 10" versions from their line. It's a back breaker trying to move it around but they give you nice foam or rubber feet to slide it depending if you're placing it on hardwood or carpet. But the sound... Oh.my it rumbles and hits those lows super well. Unlike many that I've heard in my life for a single 12, especially in this price range. Love the settings on it for controlling how much it shakes the house, especially if someone likes waking up early to watch TV or movies and workout on a treadmill...

Furniture sliders would make moving these around a breeze. https://a.co/d/0iwCqXuf

Wow, didn't know that... Incredibly thoughtful/helpful of RSL to do that! 🤣

Ultimately, subwoofers need some size if they're going to perform well.
Depends...
The higher end manufacturers like REL, SVS, ML, HSU, Rhythmik all make better subs in smaller cabinets. Even Dayton, Polk, Monoprice, etc. know how to do it. RSL needs a big cabinet due to that wonky rear port design.
Larger size doesn't make a "better sub" but it will affect what you're hearing and you may like it better.

LOL, you obviously know nothing about REAL subs not useless purty little WAF-prisoner subs like RELs.

Here are the real-world Height x Width x Depth NUMBERS vs two similar-performance competitors from SVS and Hsu:
  1. RSL 12s: 22.3 x 19 x 22 ($800)
  2. SVS PB2000 Pro: 21 x 17.3 x 23.6 ($1200)
  3. Hsu VTF-2: 21.5 x 15" x 24 ($850)
The RSL is 1.5-2" taller but 1.5-2" shallower so overall cabinet volume is roughly the same across different brands for a good ported 12" sub.

Got one of these during the July 4th sale to upgrade my 10s mkii. Made me wish I just got the 12s to begin with. Actually pairs pretty well with the 10s mk2 as the 2nd sub.

Never had a Monolith, and even though they're THX certified I'd go RSL. Also, no doubt in my mind the customer service is better, too.

Just be sure you want it because it's $150 to return it if you don't like it.
