Community Reviews

This Costco pergola is mainly a large adjustable louvered shade structure, with the 10 by 20 foot size called out as a complete pergola rather than just an accessory kit. The strongest takeaways are the in store pricing, with the $1,199 price confirmed in multiple locations and the Costco app matching that figure, while some stores show $1,599 or $1,799 with the $400 manufacturer rebate already included. Installation can be the real hurdle, since it needs solid anchoring, leveling, and often permits or HOA approval. Real world performance looks good when closed, but heavy rain leakage and sagging louvers have also been reported.

Return desk was great. They price matched and refunded $400 + taxes.
Mine couldnt do a price adjustment because I bought at a different Costco and the price wasn't lower at that one. I had to put it on a cart, buy it up front, and then return it with the old receipt. Kind of a pain but got $400 back.

You will need to bolt it to your deck framing.

What if you're installing over concrete slab?
In my town it would still require the permit/inspection, but I believe a slab install would pass, using the right fasteners. We have a resident engineer in the planning office to lob those sorts of questions, and best to resolve BEFORE doing the work, to ensure it passes inspection.
edit: actually I would do that even before buying, since this thing is a bear to pack home and back to the store if it doesn't work out.

Just over 120 sq. ft. so requires a permit in my town. Even though an open roof, they'll want a 3 foot deep footing attachment and proper setbacks from property line.
That makes sense to me. This is large, not particularly heavy, and could be moved by a big storm.

I bought and installed the 10"x20" pergola from Costco in May. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the aesthetic look and the functionality of the adjustable louvers. When closed, despite the heavy Texas rain, It DOES NOT LEAK. I bought Simpson Strong-Tie Titen HD 3/8 in. x 5 in. Mechanically Galvanized Heavy-Duty Concrete and Masonry Screw Anchor to replace the anchors that came with it. This increased the wind rating from 80 mph to 200 mph (I did the calcs).

Mine leaks with heavy rain. The louvres start sagging from the weight of the water.
