Early reviews of that Universal park, which just opened July 1, are brutal. I cancelled a reservation I had for it. Please be aware that much of it is bare concrete and there is no shade. Given the time of year, be aware that you will be roasting in the sun the entire time there. While kids are playing, while waiting in line, while in the rides. All uncovered.

So now we can add Universal Kids to the Cowgirls training camp as reasons not to go to Frisco.

I've been to the park and we enjoyed it. I think all the negative press may have had me enjoy it more than I thought I would. People are correct, there is little to no shade. But give them a break, they just opened and have brand new landscaping in. The trees aren't even firmly planted yet. If you go in with a mindset that this is for kids, I would say 5-12, then you will have a good time. If you are expecting Universal Orlando or Hollywood, this is not it. I live in Dallas. I have a 4 year old that loves the Peppa Pig Park that we have here. I personally don't care too much for it. Pretty sure my 4 year old likes Universal better. Universal Kids was a much better experience to me as well. Actually felt like a true theme park while walking through. But... just my opinion. To each their own.

Tip: I wore light clothing that I would wear to the pool/beach and got wet at every opportunity bc it is hot. Kids and I got wet at the multiple splash pads throughout the park. We bought season tickets but plan on going again when the weather gets a bit cooler.

That's not an excuse for poor planning. The peppa pig park in north Richland hold has tons of shaded areas using colorful tarps.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I still stand by my opinion: Peppa Pig Park in North Richland Hills is better suited for kids 2-5, Universal Kids in Frisco is better suited for kids 5-12. We have season passes to both. We have a 4 year old. The only tarps I remember at Peppa Pig are in line, and at the Peppa Pig stage. Pretty much same as Universal Kids.
