Edit - Gemini is telling me that the "same country" clause for the damage by airlines doesn't limit you to the country where you're traveling, rather it refers to the shipping that Travelpro will pay for. So if you ship the bag to a us repair center while abroad, they won't pay for the shipping either way. You can send the bag to a repair center once you return to your home country. Again - not as awesome as the B&R super warranty, but like I said, still better than a lot of other of the major luggage brands.

The $470 reference isn't a phantom MSRP — Nordstrom is currently listing this exact bag at $469.99, 4.3/5 across 145 reviews. So $209.99 is a true 55.3% off; $229.99 is 51.1%. An eBay comp sat at $349.99. I couldn't verify Amazon's live price (robots-blocked), but everything I could check puts street price in the $350–470 band.
Live on Woot right now: condition New, $209.99–$229.99, 6 days left, and only 1 left in the currently-selected variant — so the $209.99 black may already be gone.
What actually matters here
- Warranty carries over, probably. Travelpro's terms cover the original purchaser with proof of purchase, with no authorized-dealer clause in the published text, and Woot's own warranty page says its 90-day coverage does not apply to products sold with a manufacturer warranty. Inference, not confirmed by Travelpro: your Woot receipt should qualify. Register within 120 days for the Trusted Companion enhancement.
- Returns are the real cost. Buyer's-remorse return shipping is deducted from the refund, and if Woot finds a returned item isn't actually defective you can be hit with a 15% restocking fee. On a 28" suitcase that's not trivial.
- This is almost certainly the outgoing generation. The 2026 Platinum Elite large check-in is spec'd at 10.5 lb and 140 L; this one is 12.3–12.8 lb and 108 L. Two pounds heavier, ~30% less volume. That's why it's cheap.
- Size math. Woot's dims (30 × 18 × 13.5) total 61.5 linear inches — right at the 62" domestic limit. Expanded, it's 63.5–64", i.e. over. Treat the 2" expansion as a driving-home feature, not a flying one. Tare weight eats ~25% of a 50 lb allowance.
- Spec mismatch worth noting: the Slickdeals post lists 30.5 × 19.5 × 12 / 12.8 lb / 108 L (copied from Travelpro's site); Woot's page says 30 × 18 × 13.5 / 12.3 lb. Different sources, possibly different production runs.
Buy it at $210 if you want a durable, well-regarded checked bag and don't care about carrying two extra pounds. Skip at $230 if you'd otherwise wait — the current-gen bag goes on sale too, and it's the better product.
