Just bought one refurbished on eBay for $130. Works quite well. Not sure it's necessary to spend an extra $200 for a new one.

I got this one, but returned it for the dual brush head model directly from Shark. It's incredibly better at cleaning, both hard flooring and carpet. Shark you can get 20% off it atm. It was also on sale last week, so stacking with the 20% off I got it for this price. So, I'd personally hold off on this.

Picked up on Amazon. Does anyone know if this can be used without the auto empty station?

The station is the charger so not easily, no. I'm very happy with my refurbished model and it does a good job, but the blue light and dog hair is like shining a black light in a motel room. You'll never get it all up!

Got it, thanks! The battery has a DC port for charging though right? So theoretically I can pick up a charger online?

I tried to look for the dual brush head. From my search it seems that Shark changed the design because the dual head might be damaging some floors.

Will take the risk on the single head.

Would you happen to cite any of those claims? At the very most, I saw one post supposedly about scratched flooring but that was actually due to rocks and stuff, not the brush head.

I think that was the same post I read. The front brush would drag dirt or rocks and scratch the floor.

Found it.

Since that was literally the only complaint ever, with the dual head being out for soo many years, didn't really stop me. My dogs bring in rocks all the time and I haven't witnessed any scratches and I'm sure nobody else has. So, really pondered of the validity of that post.
