I believe this deal is just like the deal for the Moto Pad 2026.
You have to be an existing customer of Metro by T-Mobile.
You can add a new tablet plan ($20 minimum monthly fee) and get the Galaxy Tab A11+ for $49.99.
I did the Moto 2026 Pad deal with Metro by Mobile earlier this year. I wa \s able to cancel the plan by calling customer service before getting billed for a 2nd month.

The Galaxy Tab A11+ 5G is being treated as the stronger Samsung option for people who want a budget tablet with better processor performance and long software support. It is also described as a solid upgrade from the A9+ 5G, with working Metro and T Mobile activation, 5G UC, and a cleaner path to later unlock or firmware changes. The main tradeoff is the 1080p display and 6 GB of RAM versus the Moto Pad 2026, which has a sharper screen and more memory. Deal availability also appears unstable, with the advertised price sometimes showing higher or going out of stock.
Common Questions (5)
The Galaxy Tab A11+ 5G has the better processor and longer software-update support, while the Moto Pad 2026 has a sharper 2K/2.5K display and 8 GB RAM versus Samsung's 6 GB. The better pick depends on whether you value performance and updates or screen resolution and memory.
Activation can sometimes be started from the email link before the device is in hand, and one activation attempt sent an SMS to the arriving tablet. A newer limitation is that online account activation may require an SMS code sent to the new phone, which can block the old workaround.
The tablet can remain locked for a long period and later network-unlock from settings after about a year. A practical workaround is to activate the Metro SIM, use it briefly, then later try the unlock from settings after the service period has passed.
The advertised $49.99 price appears to be gone and the deal now shows $100 for some shoppers. Availability also seems to fluctuate, with some seeing it out of stock.
Cancellation was completed by calling customer service, since an online cancel option was not easy to find. Online chat with a rep may also work, but the rep may try to keep the line active.

This post is for the Galaxy Tab A11 5G. The tab has major differences including long-term updates/support.
Actually , looking back the A9+ was $20 (free with $20 plan)
This was back when I think unlock was 60 days. My first boot was with a T-Mobile sim and now everytime I boot I get the T-Mobile flash screen. It did not unlock , and I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it for close to a year. Took it out and network unlock from settings worked.

The A9+ can take T-Mobile sim. Hopefully the A11+ too.

I also have the Moto Pad 2026 and its a very solid tablet. It has a higher resolution (2k) screen than the A11+
