The ET-3958 is a better deal with duplex printing and Automatic document feeder from ebay for $179 from the same seller.

Just curious but I assume these can take aftermarket ink correct?

Do their bottles of ink have special nozzles designed to fill the tanks? If so do the aftermarket inks have the same bottle nozzles or do you refill the original OEM bottles?

How much does it cost to fill all the tanks with ink? about how long do they last?

Does the ink evaporate in the tanks? I have a printer I rarely use and the ink seems to disappear in the cartridges.

These have a spill resistant nozzle that only releases ink into the printer tank when inserted. Aftermarket ink with the same part number have the same nozzle. Aftermarket ink is around $25 and it lasts a while. I would say at least 1000 pages before you need to fill the black while the others are halfway. The heads do get clogged if not used at least like once a week. You perform a nozzle cleaning to unclog which takes about 5-10 minutes. The ink does not evaporate.

Considering a 3985 and putting pigment ink in it. Anyone experienced with such?

Pretty sure no one looking at this printer is thinking they don't care much about color prints.
