Because Best Buy has 1,061 stores in the United States and allows returns. Once somebody returns an item, Bestbuy can no longer sell it as new. So instead of just throwing it away and writing off the loss, they attempt to resell it as an "open box" item to try and recoup some of their capital expenditures.

Best Buy used to have an online subsidiary and outlet called "CowBoom.com" that they used to liquidate returned items, refurbished items and closeouts. Cowboom closed down in 2016 and apparently now Best Buy just uses "open box" pricing from local stores to liquidate returns.

Yes, it has the same chip as the MSI Claw 8 AI+. Watch reviews on that to know what to expect. You won't be maxing out this QHD display but you can do a decent bit at 1080p low or med using some FSR.

Best Buy Good = Acer Nitro laptop with scuff marks on the screen (not scratches), and the bezel is cracked 1/3 of the way down the side of the laptop. One good bump against something and that plastic is going to come off. I couldnt believe they would count that as "Good".

Also none available around the KC area in any of the conditions.

I can't speak for this model, but I have a 2022/2023 Gram with a 12th gen i5 and it thermal throttles BAD. I have an older MSI laptop, also fairly thin and light, with a 10th gen i5, but a beefier build and it performs a lot better. The cooling systems on these LG Grams are just woefully inadequate for doing any kind of sustained CPU-intensive tasks.

I'm happy with my Gram aside from that, though. Great screen and being thin/lightweight is very important to me.

So I thought I was the only one with the thermal issue with the Gram. I put a longitudinal squirrel fan directed at the upper keyboard and that has helped.

Picked up one from my local best buy. Open box had finger smudges on it and no original box but came with a charger . Got it home and cleaned it up. Still going through setup and updates . Will update soon

Nice price for a big laptop. As with all open-box items at Best Buy, YMMV. I've seen fair condition devices that look new, and excellent devices that have bad dead pixels, or have clearly seen a lot of use. Because it's up to the refurbishing tech to decide and they're not always thorough, you should check out the device before walking out the door with it.

Lunar Lake APUs like this are great when paired with 32GB RAM. The RAM is very fast (8533mt/s) so applications and games that benefit from fast DRAM will perform nicely here. 32GB is also enough you shouldn't run into memory or VRAM issues in games, at least within reason. This is still an iGPU, so don't expect it to be some kind of gaming beast.

For everything else, it should be a great combination of power efficiency and speed. That 77Wh battery is large enough that this laptop benchmarks at ~14-17 hours of mixed usage, and over 20 hours for video playback. That's stellar, in my opinion, for a laptop this size, especially at 3.22lbs.
