However, 10G SFP+ connections - fiber-optic 10G? It uses 0.1 to 1.5W per port when using fiber or DAC (the SFP+->RJ45 converters use up to 3W, which gets really hot and can burn ports out if there isn't enough active cooling, if you use them, ideally use the long range ones on short runs). It doesn't have to do as much processing as 10G RJ45 does, so it's much more efficient and the gear is often much cheaper. But home users don't do well with fiber and DAC cables top out at limited run lengths, so it's not widely adopted by home users.

This TP-Link 5 port 2.5G unmanaged switch is framed as a simple way to add faster wired networking without upgrading the whole home network. It fits well for NAS backups, Steam file transfers, and other local traffic when both devices support 2.5G, while the rest of the network can stay at 1G. The price is viewed as reasonable, and 2.5G is described as a practical middle ground versus pricier 5G or 10G gear. The main caveat is that the 15 percent Prime Visa back offer may not appear at checkout, and an 8 port version at $60 is preferred for most setups.
You can connect only 2.5G devices to the switch while keeping the rest of your network at 1G or whatever other gear supports.
2.5G networking can noticeably speed up file transfers and backups in a homelab setup.
A 2.5G switch can be a low-effort upgrade for home users with a frequently accessed NAS and existing 2.5G-capable router or mesh.
Running 1/2.5GbE over twisted pair throughout a home can improve performance without moving to higher-power 10GbE setups everywhere.
The 15% Prime Visa back offer may not appear at checkout and may show only the normal 5% back.
You need switches rated for at least 5Gbps to fully take advantage of a 5Gbps internet connection.
A 2.5G switch only helps for multi-device bandwidth when connected devices have 2.5G-capable LAN ports.
Using an uncertified power supply in a no-name switch can increase safety and reliability risk for 24/7 operation.

Since you will have a switch plugged in constantly, 24x7x365, it's important that the power supply be of high quality. Hence this is why I do not buy el cheapo switches or other computer equipment as it will likely have inferior power supplies. They may work fine for years, or they could fail in 2 months or catch on fire. Who knows.. why risk it?
