The 4TB 990 EVO Plus stands out as a very fast, cool running NVMe for big storage upgrades, gaming, and everyday use. It is described as a strong fit for thin laptops and external enclosures, and HMB based performance is said to be close to DRAM drives for normal workloads while using less power and heat. The main caveat is that it lacks onboard DRAM, so sustained writes and PS5 use may not be ideal. The deal price also drew attention because 4TB SSD pricing has been far higher lately, making this feel like a rare capacity play.
Mac mini storage expanders using everyday workloads, because it runs cool and can benchmark faster than the internal drive.
Laptop upgraders with tight thermal clearance, because the drive runs very cool and suits ultra-thin notebooks.
Gamers replacing slower NVMe storage, because it delivers speeds that feel unnecessary for casual play and can replace RAID 0 setups.
Builders needing large-capacity storage for Linux or multi-drive arrays, because two 4TB drives can support an 8TB LVM.
Shoppers who need a guaranteed authentic unit on arrival, because some orders have arrived as mislabeled makeup or empty packaging.
PS5 owners wanting the best upgrade, because the drive uses HMB and the console does not support it natively.
Boot-drive builders who want consistent write performance, because the lack of DRAM can slow the drive as it fills up.

Update: I can confirm I received both with production in October 2025. I ended up receiving them late.
Reviews seem to be pretty solid, and I wanted the same-day delivery alongside the SSD so I'm not waiting to install it
This is the one I bought before, about 6 years ago? and it's been solid ever since.. Just upgrading from 2TB to 4TB now
