The 4TB 990 EVO Plus stands out as a very fast, cool running NVMe for big storage upgrades, gaming, and everyday use. It is described as a strong fit for thin laptops and external enclosures, and HMB based performance is said to be close to DRAM drives for normal workloads while using less power and heat. The main caveat is that it lacks onboard DRAM, so sustained writes and PS5 use may not be ideal. The deal price also drew attention because 4TB SSD pricing has been far higher lately, making this feel like a rare capacity play.

  • Mac mini storage expanders using everyday workloads, because it runs cool and can benchmark faster than the internal drive.

  • Laptop upgraders with tight thermal clearance, because the drive runs very cool and suits ultra-thin notebooks.

  • Gamers replacing slower NVMe storage, because it delivers speeds that feel unnecessary for casual play and can replace RAID 0 setups.

  • Builders needing large-capacity storage for Linux or multi-drive arrays, because two 4TB drives can support an 8TB LVM.

  • Shoppers who need a guaranteed authentic unit on arrival, because some orders have arrived as mislabeled makeup or empty packaging.

  • PS5 owners wanting the best upgrade, because the drive uses HMB and the console does not support it natively.

  • Boot-drive builders who want consistent write performance, because the lack of DRAM can slow the drive as it fills up.

Great deal. With 8TB NVMe drives over $2K due to ai hogging up all the high capacity flash storage, I grabbed 2 to run in a LVM. I hope it ships!

I got one, but it still kills me that these used to be even cheaper, around $200.
Me too, but I doubt we'll see these prices again for a while, if ever. Might see a slow decline where $318 becomes normal in a couple years and sales at $275 or so, but unless there are major shifts in the AI market (not to mention inflation in general), we may be waiting quite some time.

Looking at my purchase history, I retuned a used 2tb Samsung Evo plus for 110$ since I didn't need it back then Oct 2025. Still regretting returning it.

Bought one. I don't need it now but I know that I will need one in a few months for one thing or another. With prices forecast to increase, I will be kicking my self for not buying it today.

Bought a used like new 4TB 980 Pro for $190 and a brand new 8TB SN850X for $550 last July.

I regret nothing.

Will we have to sue Samsung for warranty like Louis Rossmann did because they claimed they didnt have any drives left and stock?
Weird seeing down votes for truth. Does the memory cartel have sycophants in here or something?
