The 4TB 990 EVO Plus stands out as a very fast, cool running NVMe for big storage upgrades, gaming, and everyday use. It is described as a strong fit for thin laptops and external enclosures, and HMB based performance is said to be close to DRAM drives for normal workloads while using less power and heat. The main caveat is that it lacks onboard DRAM, so sustained writes and PS5 use may not be ideal. The deal price also drew attention because 4TB SSD pricing has been far higher lately, making this feel like a rare capacity play.

Seeing a lot more legit SSD deliveries which is reassuring, hopefully those were isolated incidents. Worth the gamble for sure

At least 4 people on that thread posted it, but only 1 person actually posted a photo. The rest I'm thinking were trolls trying to get people to cancel their orders lol

I agree. I just purchased, with delayed shipping. I've had my eye on this for a while... at 4TB this is ridiculously wrong pricing. I am worried about counterfeit. There's a tool to test that, right?
Yes, there should be tools - I just searched Google and got

I just got my drive I ordered this morning. I'm surprised they honored this. I guess it was not a mistake.

Less than two years ago you could regularly get a deal on a 990 Pro 4TB for $200-250, sometimes less with student discounts.
That's what I paid 2 years ago.

Good price in current market. Much better than those Chinese brands. That said, these used to be close to 200 pre-AI. I usually went for the Pro drives instead for $20more.

4tb/8tb will be first to fall. So if you can wait until mid-2027, these prices will be normal by then. Need them sooner? Buy what you can get.
no they won't. 4TB/8TB are the drives that server farms will buy. I know what the internal cost of these drives are - I am the cost expert for the largest computer company in the world, and I talk to a number of memory and NAND consultants monthly. Net is that spinning hard drives are sold out for 2026 and pretty much 2027. Capacity has continued to shrink for these companies, and the only way they can charge more is to have demand greater than supply, so they will not grow HDD supply. They are trying to add a little bit by buying heads from other companies but it will only make a small dent. Since these big cloud companies can't get the storage they need, they are asking for big SSDs and that is consuming a ton of the NAND chips on the market today. When you see people say we won't be able to get cheap memory or SSDs, it is because demand > supply. And until that fixes itself, prices will be headed up. I bought one of these drives, but don't have an immediate need. This was one of those "buy first, think later" kinda deals. I just looked, and Amazon is now asking $569 for this drive. I looked at Samsung's site to see if they had some kind of sale and they were at over $1000 for this same drive. These constant price changes have absolutely worn me out - trust me.

I received mine. Production date of June 2025. Anyone know how to verify if it's legit drive or a fake other than installing it and running a suite of tests?

And on EBay. I wonder how many were sold at the low price. I bought two with the intention of ebaying one to pay for part of the one I intend to keep, but if they keep driving the price down on eBay, I might just return it.

Received mine, LA Area, working great.

I believe the people reporting receiving the makeup were in the same general area, so if true it would seem that the distribution center slapped the stickers on the wrong items.
