Commonly recommended against because of its full bolster, that thick ridge of steel between the blade and the handle. It increases the difficulty of sharpening. At this price, I'd expect an HRC of 60 and up. Harder is not always better, but one of the biggest factors influencing knife price is the hardness, as harder steel is more expensive. If you get this, you're really just paying for the brand. There are better options for sub-$100 knives.

Bought this knife for $95 on Amazon earlier this year. My wife's favorite. Honed it lightly on a ceramic rod a few times since then. I use it often too. Thick bolster at base of handle doesn't bother me at all.

Not sure who's buying a 6" chef's knife, but boosters are the worst. Do people really like them?

Bought for the wife and she loves it. She has tiny hands and I feel like I'll get murdered anytime she holds my 8 incher or gyuto.

I'm not going to drop any brand names, but popular knifetubers like outdoors55 have reviewed many sub-$100 knives. I bought one that he recommended and it feels quite nice to use.

Fact is, this Wusthof is very poorly-specced for the price, and full bolster is almost universally considered a downside. Softer knives are typically beater knives, but this is well above the price range of a beater knife.
