I just bought it. It'll be a while before seasons 6 and 7 are available and there's a lot of good content here to watch in the meantime. I think my favorite is the meeting between Jesus and Nicodemus on the roof top.

God changed my life through this show.. In 2020, I was ready to end my life and my wife turned this on for me while I sat in a catatonic breakdown on our couch. I saw a Jesus I had grown up hearing about, but had never experienced. Yes, it's a show and it's corny and campy and cringy at times, but I love the emotion in it. Is it totally accurate? Nope. It's also not supposed to replace anything but serve as a signpost to point people to the Bible and to give them hope.

And I am living proof that lives can be changed by a show.

Got excited for a minute thinking this is the HBO show, not the historical snoozefest.
I know you're trying to be edgy, but this is one of the highest rated shows of all time on imdb fan reviews. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5622316/

This show may be highly rated but it does not have widespread reach or appeal it is for a very specific group of people that already know what they are watching. To prove that point if you look you'll see this show only has 71k reviews vs 2.7M reviews for breaking bad which is also rated more highly. In other words this show is not popular

This is a good deal if you enjoy the fantasy genre.
I personally enjoy historical films and series but they are not for everyone.

Ah yes, one of the religious propaganda shows that sensationalized fictional stories to get us into this whole.... gesturing at everything... Mess.

Absolutely love this show. Makes me feel closer to Christ by feeling what it may have actually been like in the major stories of the new testament.

Sorry to debunk your narrative about it "not being popular". Here are the reported audience figures over time:
Before joining major streaming services (2021)
312+ million episode views

November 2022
108+ million people had watched at least part of an episode

January 2024
200 million viewers and 770 million episode views

2026
300+ million viewers worldwide

Season 5 reached #1 on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. after its debut and remained among the platform's top-performing shows for a period.

Diverse Audience: Creators report that about one-third of viewers identify as non-religious, highlighting its broad mainstream appeal beyond traditional faith-based audiences.

I found it from a show called American Ride which was interesting and Canterville Ghost or something like that with Anthony Head in it. Other stuff is Morman based, but some shows I was surprised on there. This steaming service doesn't show up with you google where to watch Chosen for free. enjoy

Might want to get out of the little bubble you live in.

The show has over 300M viewers, which doesn't count physical media. And a fairly significant figure do not claim to be Christian.

Breaking Bad was a great show (I think better call saul was actually better), but even the "record breaking 10M" that watched the final episode live seems like it wasn't as universally popular as you think it is. And lets be clear, the Chosen also hasn't been on a major TV network, which makes the numbers even more impressive. (and when it did show up in a TV airing on a smaller network it was also 5 years after it was first available to watch)

Anyone that thinks Jesus didn't exist is going to have a really hard time believing history of any kind. The amount of evidence he was a historical figure is insane. Believing the specific things he said were true is a different subject.

I start telling people about how Warhammer 40k is real future history and am almost committed to mental institution. Life is just unfair.

The biggest counter argument was that not one contemporary Jewish historian mentioned his existence. There were no official Roman or Jewish record of the man. That wasn't the case with Buddha and Mohammed. You have official record from government at their time and you have contemporary historians mentioning the men. In fact, we have the physical remains of Siddhartha Gautama who lived 500BCE. The evidence you were referring to was the religious movement and the gospels that happened about a century or two later. I mean no disrespect. I'm just looking at it from scholar and scientific point of view. I think the situation is almost identical to founder of Zen Buddhism who happened to be the founder of Shaolin kungfu. The religion and martial arts are real, but that man Boddidarma never existed.
