The spacing looks like the less desirable 4-inches between the 1-inch holes, but could put in a few extra holes at key heights for better height settings for J-hooks, safety bars, etc. without significant change in structural integrity. It is not listed on the official Mikolo website. There are weight plate horns on the selectable weight stack to increase resistance. When you use both sides at the same time, the felt-resistance is 1:1 ratio. One side at a time is 2:1 ratio.

For $600 at Walmart, this would so nice for 95% of people who lift less than 300lbs or so.

Mikolo does sell add-on long articulating functional trainer arms for $200 for a pair which fit the K6 model.... This K12 model looks like a cable system just like the K6.
So, for another $200, you get the desirable long articulating functional trainer arms to make high point LAT pulls and low point ROW pulls so easy to set up by linking the arm pull points to the center.

Very tempting to replace my Mikolo F4 version 2.0.

Yes, it comes with 104 lbs of selectable weight stack. That is good for stuff like chest flys, deltoid exercises, etc. You can also add weight plates onto the horns to increase weight.

The 4-inch spacing (vs 2-inch spacing) is not good height adjustments for the J-hooks and safety bars. Most people have commented it is a significant difference when you really want a height in between the 4-inch spacing. You can get around that by putting a 2-inch platform under your bench as needed, but that is kind of a wonky work around.

Definitely get a selectable weight stack instead of weight plate loading only rack. I have the latter with the Mikolo F4 version 2.0 and now that I'm lifting wider range of resistance, it is annoying to load and unload plates. But at the time, this K12 was not available. The F4 was about $300. So for a mere $300 more you get BOTH the functional trainer AND the selectable weight stack.

And IF those long adjustable articulating functional trainer arms fit this K12 rack, OMG, for total $800 that is sweet.

Most people are going to give this post a thumbs down because it is not a sale price. But they are not looking at the price compared to features. There is no other rack with these features for $600 (or $800 with those add-on articulating functional trainer arms, IF they fit).

Use ChatGPT AI and see if you can find anything even close to having all of the above for these prices. ChatGPT AI says it is safe to selectively drill a few additional holes in between the 4-inch spacing (ie to make a few 2-inch spaced holes) for more ideal height choices for J-hooks and safety bars. It makes sense since many other similar Mikolo racks have 2-inch spacing.

If you are new to considering a squat rack, use ChatGPT to learn as much as possible. Just give your current weight, height, age, ability to lift, what your goals are, the time frame, the types of exercise you want to do, your space available for equipment, how devoted you will be to your exercise routine, etc.

I use AI as my dietician and personal trainer... It has been excellent! Better than ANY dietician or personal trainer I have had. No question. Combine that AI with excellent Youtube videos by incredible trainers (ex. Athlean, Jeff Nippard, etc.).

Some equipment reviewers for higher end stuff are Gluck's Gym Youtube videos.
I don't own any high end stuff, but fun to watch. I will never lift more than 300lbs and ChatGPT AI agreed my Mikolo F4 version 2.0, 2x2 14 gauge steel racks are perfectly adequate and saves a lot of money. A friend who does squat well over 300 lbs did a test "fail" on my rack and it was excellently sturdy. He said the rack was surprisingly good for $300. But I want a selectable weight stack and functional trainer.now.

beware of T E M U racks which are almost all 4-inch spacing between the 1-inch holes.

Also check out Reddit threads "GarageGym" and HomeGym"... Lots of great examples of some other gym set ups...

Some are so elaborate.

Also check out Mike of Hybrid Resistance on Youtube... He used a Total Gym for several years during and after Covid and loved it. He is a football-size athletic man! He still considers the Total Gym sliding bench as a top 5 equipment because of the speed of transition from one exercise to another. (It is actually number 3 in his tope 5). I 100% agree. I have a Total Gym XLS model, bought used for under $!00 with all the accessories. Been using it as a functional trainer since my F4 version 2.0 does not have a functional trainer. I also use is for leg press stuff. SO under-rated. Can even add weight plates to the XLS model to boost resistance.
