I had a similar experience. I saw a heck of a deal on an Xbox Series controller for like $30 through Newegg's Tiktok store. I bought two, and both came used/opened. One was especially obvious with the box condition and how dirty it was. The other was a bit better, but still used. Technically, they both worked, but it was advertised and sold as New. It seems Newegg/Tiktok is following the modern trend of advertising significant discounts but using it as a way to offload old/damaged/used returns. They legally get away with it by claiming it was a mistake, but when it's like 90% of orders, no one believes that nonsense. It's intentional and apparently is quite successful for them, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it. In my case, they first just offered the refund, but I argued with them a lot because I could see the exact same controller in stock on Newegg's website, brand new. So calling their bluff, I stated that you show you have new units in stock and should make it right by sending a replacement. They kept fighting with me that "the Newegg website is different" so they could only offer a refund. Well, Newegg, what makes the website stock different from the Tiktok shop stock, hmmmm? It couldn't be that one is mostly defective/returned units and the other is not, right??? It's a bunch of BS. Eventually, they relented, but saving $20 over the normal sale price isn't worth the risk/headache. At least to me. But that's just my opinion
Would be curious to see if others were able to get a good/new/working 140W charger first try off that Tiktok shop for Anker.
To protect themselves legally, they would need to sell at least some brand new units at the advertised discount, so there has to be some success stories out there. It would just be really interesting to see their rate of returns lol
